CT6 - Smart Card Application Aspects

TSG CT WG6 is responsible for Development and maintenance of specifications and associated test specifications for the 3GPP smart card applications, and the interface with the Mobile Terminal.

Including;

  • Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) which is used by 2G systems,
  • USIM (Universal Subscriber Identity Module) which is used by 3GPP systems
  • ISIM (IM Services Identity Module) with the exception of the security algorithms (developed by SA WG3).

**Heiko Kruse re-elected chairman, Paul Jolivet and Davide Pratone were elected vice chairmen of CT WG6.**

Terms of reference

The updated ToR were submitted to the CT#28 (Jun 2005) plenary meeting for approval (CP-050164).

The main tasks of TSG CT WG6 are:

  • To design and maintain 3GPP Applications (including USIM and ISIM) to support 3GPP security requirements;
  • To maintain the 3GPP SIM Application
  • To provide capabilities for service creation (e.g. evolution of USIM Application Toolkit, APIs);
  • To specify download mechanisms for applications;
  • To specify the 3GPP applications as part of a multi application card in a single/multi card reader terminal environment;
  • To maintain current service capabilities and develop new services, maintaining backwards compatibility;

Liaisons

  • With ETSI Project SCP for the interface with the standard smart card platform;
  • With other groups as required (e.g. 3GPP2, OMA, GSMA).
